My practice centres on abstract and semi-abstract painting as a form of embodied observation — a response to nature not as subject, but as experience. Working gesturally, often incorporating drawn elements, I explore the tension between immediacy and reflection, intuition and form. Each piece carries traces of the natural world filtered through memory and movement, creating a space where the poetic and elemental converge.
I approach the studio as a place of attentive enquiry — where marks become a language for what can’t be easily named. I work with acrylic, graphite, charcoal gathered from the land, oil stick, papers, and drawing tools. The early stages of a painting are expressive and instinctive, often revealing unexpected forms that guide the process forward. Several works evolve alongside one another, allowing time for contemplation and fresh perspective.
Making art is a way to honour fleeting moments, emotional resonance, and the rhythms of the natural world. I hope the work evokes a sense of wonder or recognition in the viewer — an invitation to pause, feel, and connect. Ultimately, my practice is grounded in discovery and care, reflecting the beauty of existence and our shared responsibility for the environment.
